TMC vs BJP for Mamata’s ‘audiotape’ of Sitalkuchi’s dismissal India News

NEW DELHI: A new controversy erupted in West Bengal after the BJP once again released an alleged audio clip of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, this time about the incident of last week’s firing in Cooch Behar in which they died four people.
This is how the row developed …
BJP releases audiotape
Amit Malviya, head of BJP’s national IT cell, released the audiotape of an alleged conversation between Mamata and TMC Sitalkuchi candidate Partha Pratim Ray on Friday.
On the tape you can hear the female voice, supposedly from Mamata, asking “Partha” to “keep the bodies so that the party can hold a rally with the dead.”
Then the “TMC candidate” is asked “to tell the families not to take the bodies home.”
The BJP claimed that the conversation took place after the firing of the CISF last Saturday.
The TMC had previously described the audio clip as “fake” and said that such a conversation did not take place.
Mamata hits; TMC writes to EC
The TMC supreme lashed out at the BJP on Saturday over the alleged audiotape and claimed their phone is being tapped by the saffron party.
Addressing an election rally in West Bengal, he accused the BJP of being involved in the conspiracy, as the saffron party “cannot match” Trinamool’s ruling congressional campaign on development programs.
“They (the BJP leaders) are even eavesdropping on our daily conversation. It seems like they are eavesdropping on our phone calls for cooking and other household chores,” he said.
The chief minister said she will order a CBI investigation into the matter.
“I will order a CID investigation on the matter. I will not forgive anyone involved in such espionage activities. I have already come to know who is behind this,” said the supreme of TMC.
Meanwhile, the TMC wrote a letter to the state’s Chief Elections Officer (CEO) accusing the BJP of illegally recording a conversation between Mamata and Partha.
In the letter, TMC leaders, including Yashwant Sinha, Derek O’Brien and Purnendu Basu, said that the BJP played a phone conversation between Banerjee and Ray in their office in the presence of the BJP IT cell in charge of Amit Malviya and MP Locket. Chatterjee.
“At said conference, it has been alleged that after the CISF shooting incident in Sitalkuchi, Mamata Banerjee had a conversation with Partha Pratim Ray. The BJP has not only illegally recorded and / or had it recorded, but also played it at the press conference out of context. The entire exercise by the BJP is an illegal act and is a direct assault on legal rights, including the Right to Privacy of Mamata Banerjee and Partha Pratim Ray, “said the TMC.
“For such a serious violation and the consequences of said act by BJP, the necessary steps for prosecution under criminal law will be taken separately,” they added.
BJP urges EC to scan the clip
A BJP delegation on Saturday urged the voting panel to take note of the alleged audio clip, as “such a move could generate more tension” in the state amid the ongoing elections.
BJP Senior Leader Swapan Dasgupta, who led the delegation to the CEO’s state office, told reporters that he informed the voting panel of the conversation and noted that it could lead to adverse situations in the next three phases of the elections of the assembly.
Dasgupta, who is also the candidate for the Saffron party’s Tarakeshwar assembly seat, further stated that the executive director has been asked to discuss the matter with senior Election Commission officials.
He claimed that the audiotape was leaked on purpose.
“We don’t think this is a wiretapping case,” Dasgupta said.
Mamata playing politics with the dead: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticized Mamata for the leaked tapes, accusing her of playing politics with the dead.
Speaking at an election rally in the sprawling industrial city of Asansol, Modi claimed that the Trinamool Supreme Congress has a long-standing habit of doing politics with corpses and has been trying to politicize the “unfortunate” deaths of four people in Sitalkuchi in the district of Cooch Behar on April 10.
Prime Minister Modi said the callousness of the West Bengal prime minister was once again evident in relation to the incident of the firing of Cooch Behar.
“The truth is that Didi thought of his own political benefit from the death of people in Cooch Behar, he has the old habit of doing politics with corpses,” he alleged.
