NIA files charge sheet against 7 narco-terrorists in spl court of Jammu India News


SRINAGAR: The National Investigative Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet against seven narco-terrorists in a special NIA court in Jammu on Saturday.
In issuing a statement, the NIA said that the seven against whom the charge sheet was filed were associated with the terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). They are: Gurpartap Singh, Sham Lal, Ajeet Kumar, Bishan Das, Jasraj Singh, Subhash Chander and Gurbaksh Singh. Except for Gurpartap, who is a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, everyone else is from Jammu in J&K. They have been charged under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act.
“The case arose from PS Arnia case no. 65/2020, in which during a search operation in the early morning of September 20, 2020 at the international border near RS Pura in Jammu, heroin weighing 61 kg, 1.2 kg of opium, two pistols, three magazines and 100 live bullets from the seven defendants. NIA had re-registered the case on November 26, 2020 and resumed the investigation, ”the statement said.
He said the investigation into the case revealed that the seven defendants were part of a BKI narcomilitancy module.
“The main objective of this module was to raise funds for BKI through the proceeds of narcotics. Each member of this module had a unique role and responsibility in executing this conspiracy, ”the statement said.
