Nagaland moves to prepare his own version of NRC | India News

GUWAHATI: The Nagaland government decided on Friday to establish a joint advisory committee for the preparation of the Nagaland Indigenous People’s Register (RIIN), the state version of the National Registry of Citizens (NRC).
According to the state government, RIIN’s exercise is to identify citizens who settled in Nagaland before December 1, 1963, the day it became a state in its own right.
The objective of RIIN is to avoid the issuance of certificates of indigenous inhabitants to ineligible persons and also to maintain the registry of indigenous inhabitants. Once the process is finished, the people whose names are included in the RIIN will be issued certificates of indigenous inhabitants.
