Plea in SC to give the Covid-19 vaccine to all those over 18 years of age | India News

NEW DELHI: A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Supreme Court on Friday seeking Covid-19
Vaccination for everyone over 18 years of age due to a sudden increase in coronavirus cases across the country.
The statement presented by lawyer Rashmi Singh said that widespread vaccination of the entire young and working population is essential to stop the deadly rise of the coronavirus in its second wave.
The petition indicated that the administration of the vaccine itself takes between six and eight weeks for both doses, and therefore by the time the vaccine reaches the age group of 18 years or older, the Covid-19 virus would have spread rapidly. and it could give rise to a situation.
The denial of vaccinations to people in the 18 to 45 age group is arbitrary, “discriminatory and unreasonable,” the statement said, adding that such denial results in a violation of the right to health and the right to life. .
The petition highlighted that several experts, including the Indian Medical Association (IMA), have demanded increased Covid-19 vaccination, adding that certain experts warned that India needs to administer at least 10 million daily doses to address the situation.
Currently, the central government is making the vaccine available only to people over the age of 45.
