Kumbh: 30 sadhus in Haridwar test positive for Covid-19 | India News


HARIDWAR: In the midst of the current Kumbh in Haridwar, 30 sadhus in the city have tested positive for Covid-19, the medical director said on Friday.
Speaking to ANI, Haridwar Medical Director Dr. SK Jha said: “So far 30 sadhus have tested positive for Covid-19 in Haridwar. Medical teams go to Akhadas and RT-PCR tests of the sadhus are being performed continuously. It will accelerate further from April 17. ”
The CMO said that among the Covid positive people who are from Haridwar they have been sent to home quarantine, while those who came from outside are admitted to hospitals.
Dr. Jha also reported that Covid patients who are in serious condition are being referred to AIIMS. Rishikesh. However, he also clarified that there is no panic situation in Haridwar hospitals.
Meanwhile, Maha Nirvani Akhara’s boss, Kapil Dev, who had come to attend the Kumbh in Haridwar from Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, died at a Dehradun hospital on Wednesday while undergoing treatment after testing positive for Covid. -19.
Over the past five days, a total of 2,167 people tested positive for coronavirus in Haridwar, the site of the month-long Kumbh.
According to the Uttarakhand State Control Chamber, there were 254 positive cases of Covid-19 on April 10, 386 on April 11, 408 on April 12, 594 on April 13, and 525 on April 14.
Meanwhile, officials have said that despite a record spike in Covid-19 cases in the country, the Kumbh will continue until April 30.
