Experts want Kumbh pilgrims to be screened | India News

NEW DELHI: All those who participated in the Kumbh Mela must undergo Covid tests upon their return to Karnataka and must remain in home quarantine if found negative, say experts, who fear the pilgrims could become super-spreaders. While the state government says it has no data on the participants and may have to wait for people to self-declare upon arrival, experts say details of the participants would be available with the Haridwar the district administration and the government should make efforts to achieve them.
On Thursday, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar urged those returning from the mela to remain in home quarantine and get tested. “They can go back to their routine only if they test negative,” he said.
