Twitter Faceoff: Reactions, Memes, and More on Student Demand to Postpone CBSE Board Exams | India News

NEW DELHI. Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, more than a lakh of students in classes 10 and 12 have signed petitions urging the government to postpone or cancel the board exams scheduled for May or take them online. The hashtag “cancelboardexams2021” has been trending on Twitter for the past two days.

Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and CM Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi also urged Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal to postpone the exams.

Priyanka said that by forcing children to take these exams during a raging pandemic, the government and the CBSE board will be held accountable if any testing center becomes a hotspot with a large number of children infected with the disease.

According to the latest reports, the education ministry and CBSE officials are considering whether the exams should be rescheduled as students and schools wonder about the feasibility of taking the exams in just 20 days.

Government sources have revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting today with the Union’s education minister and key officials to discuss the issue of the CBSE board examinations.
These developments have attracted reactions from students, stakeholders, and the general public alike on the microblogging platform.

‘Young people are more prone to the virus’

‘Don’t just postpone exams, cancel them’

‘The government would be blamed if things go wrong’

And the memes continued …..
