Traveling in Rajdhanis with modern coaches becomes more expensive | India News

NEW DELHI: Riding Rajdhani trains with modern upgraded Texas-type carriages will cost more. The Indian Railways had introduced a 5% increase in the base fare for the Delhi-Agartala Texas-Rajdhani train that began operating in February.
The sources said that all Rajdhani trains will gradually be converted to Tejas-Rajdhani trains and the increased base fare will take effect in addition to the flexible fare. In February, the national carrier had said that 500 of these Tejas-type sleeper coaches will be manufactured at Integral Coach Factory and Modern Coach Factory in 2021-22, gradually replacing premium long-distance trains.
An official confirmed that the base fare increase on all classes on these trains will take effect only when the Texas rakes are incorporated. Currently, 25 pairs of Rajdhani trains are being operated across the country connecting New Delhi with different state capitals.
One of the justifications for the base fare increase is that passengers will get better facilities on Texas-type coaches, including automatic doors. The train will not start until all the doors are closed. These coaches will have bio-aspirating toilets and air-suspended bogies that will improve ride comfort and quality.
Some of the other features of these smart coaches include emergency response for medical or safety reasons, seats and bunks with polyurethane foam that provide greater comfort to passengers. There are also mobile charging points and bunk reading lights for each passenger.
