Sushil Chandra succeeds Sunil Arora as CCA, to take office on April 13 | India News

NEW DELHI: Sushil Chandra was appointed Monday as the Chief Elections Commissioner effective April 13, the day after CEC incumbent Sunil Arora resigned from office.
Chandra was appointed Election Commissioner on February 14, 2019 prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
He would leave office on May 14, 2022.
Under his command, the Election Commission would hold assembly elections in Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
The term of the Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Punjab assemblies ends on various dates in March next year.
The Uttar Pradesh assembly term ends on May 14 next year.
New assemblies must be constituted before the end of their five-year term.
Chandra was chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes before joining the voting panel.
