SC will listen to new Rafale PIL after the retirement of CJI SA Bobde | India News

NEW DELHI: A PIL took the Rafale settlement to the Supreme Court for the third time on Monday in the wake of French media reports, claiming the use of a middleman currently charged in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter contract. The matter will be heard after the retirement of CJI SA Bobde.
Litigant and public interest advocate ML Sharma made a passionate plea in court led by Bobde for the early inclusion of PIL citing his poor health and claiming it could be the last statement in his career as a legal professional. Sharma often finds himself in court with a variety of PILs.
Sharma cited reports citing alleged findings from Agence Francaise Anticorruption to claim that French manufacturer Dassault Aviation had paid 1 million euros (Rs 8.63 crore) to a Sushen Gupta as commission to close the deal. He alleged that the commission payment in a government-to-government agreement had vitiated the purchase that he claimed inexplicably diverted from the Eurofighter aircraft to the Rafale.
