Online Dispute Resolution Vital, SC Judge Says | India News

NEW DELHI: Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) has the potential to make dispute resolution more friendly, affordable and accessible, SC Judge DY Chandrachud said Saturday.
He addressed the event to publish a manual on ODR, developed by Agami and Omidyar India.
“The ODR has the potential to decentralize, diversify, democratize and unravel the mechanism of administration of justice,” he said. He said Covid-19 has impacted the way courts operate, with physical hearings giving way to virtual hearings. He stressed that ODR is the need of the moment, given the number of benefits. He said the ODR manual notes that traditional litigation in India can take a long time. ODR can help by limiting the types of disputes that often go to court in the first place. tnn
