Didi tries to politicize killings, says Shah in Bengal | India News

SHANTIPUR (Nadia): Accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of trying to “politicize” the deaths of Sitalkuchi, Interior Minister Amit Shah told her on Sunday that it was her “gherao CRPF” comment that was responsible for the deaths of four people. He also responded to his call for resignation, saying he was ready to do so “if the people in Bengal ask him to,” but added that it would be Banerjee herself who would have to resign on May 2.
“The incident is becoming politicized,” Shah said while speaking to reporters after a road show in Shantipur, Nadia. “I have seen Mamata Didi’s statement … a few days ago, at a rally, she asked people to break down the CISF and CAPF units. He asked people to attack them. I want to ask him, ‘Wasn’t your statement responsible for the deaths of the four people?’ “Shah, expressing his grief at the” unfortunate death, “said,” If she hadn’t spoken like this, could they have mustered the courage to attack the Jawanas? You should apologize for your statement. ”
The Election Commission had also sent a notice to Banerjee about her comment, to which she had responded.
Shah also accused TMC of omitting Ananda Burman’s name while paying tribute to the deceased, as the young man, a Rajbanshi, “was not from their vote bank.” Burman, 18, a first-time voter, was the first victim of electoral violence in Sitalkuchi on Saturday. “Every death is sad, and she too should have expressed her grief over Burman’s death. Burman was killed in front of the same booth when the thugs wanted to stop voting, ”Shah said.
TMC later said that the CM referred to the five deaths and that the plaque where it paid tribute Sunday had all five names, not four.
Later, at a rally in Basirhat, Shah said that Banerjee was calling for his resignation. “I would like to remind you that on May 2, you will have to present your resignation to the governor. Mamata Didi is not a small leader. It is known throughout the country. After he resigns from the governor, his dismissal will also be worked out, ”he said, adding that the BJP would win 200 seats in Bengal.
Shah also claimed that he opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act “to appease illegal immigrants” who, according to him, benefited from welfare schemes but indulged in riots.
