Ambani SUV Case: NIA Arrests Sachin Waze Partner Riyaz Kazi | India News

NEW DELHI: The National Investigative Agency (NIA) arrested Sachin Waze aide Riyaz Kaji in Mumbai on Sunday in connection with the explosives-laden van found near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, an NIA official said.
Kazi was questioned again by the NIA on Sunday and later arrested, he said.
According to the ANI news agency, Riyaz Kazi, who is facing charges of destruction of evidence, will be presented in holiday court later today.
Kaze was an Assistant Police Inspector (API) at the Mumbai Crime Division before being fired last month.
Sachin Vaze is also under investigation in connection with the death of Thane Mansukh Hiran’s businessman, who died in a stream on March 5. Hiran’s Scorpio was allegedly used by Vaze to plant explosives in front of the Antilia residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani on February 25.
The NIA took over both cases last month from the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) last month, following orders from the Union Ministry of the Interior.
The NIA arrested Vaze on March 13 after taking over the investigation of the explosives-laden vehicle. Waze was brought before a special NIA court on Friday that sent him into custody until April 23, 2021.
The agency has recorded the statement from Kaji and several others. The agency also recorded the statement of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in connection with the case.
After arresting Vaze, the NIA has recovered several high-end cars that he used.
