IS ‘Commander’ Arrested In Jammu With Cash And Weapons | India News


JAMMU: In another big trouble after the arrest of the self-described Lashker-e-Mustafa (LeM) and Resistance Front (TRF) commanders earlier this year, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Jammu Police and Kashmir avoided a great terror. strike with the arrest of a ‘commander’ of the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) on Sunday night.
Malik Umair alias Abdullah, a resident of Yaripora village in Kulgam, was arrested by the Jhajjar Kotli SOG on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, Mukesh Singh, IGP-Jammu area said.
A vehicle was intercepted after a runway, Singh said, adding that during the check one of the passengers tried to flee. He was hunted down and detained. The IGP added that the man later turned out to be an ISJK commander.
“The terrorist was arrested around 7pm on Sunday and a pistol, eight rounds and Rs 1.13 lakh were recovered from his possession. With his arrest, a major terrorist attack by the team has been prevented, ”Singh said.
The police claimed that during questioning Malik revealed that he had received the weapon and the cash to carry out a terrorist attack on Union territory. The militant is being questioned further and a few more leads are awaited. “It has come to light that the arrested terrorist was in contact with various ISJK operatives and efforts are underway to catch them,” said the IGP.
In early February, J&K police had arrested a self-described TRF commander, Zahoor Ahmad Rather alias Sahil, from Bari Brahmana in the Samba district. Rather killed a member of the police in Furrah in Kulgam district and also killed three BJP officials – Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam – in the YK Pora town of Kulgam in October last year.
Prior to this, the police had foiled an offer by the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group to establish a base for its Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) branch in the Jammu region with the arrest of Hidayatullah Malik alias Hasnain of the Kunjwani area of ​​Jammu.
