Take Custody of Ansari Before April 8, Punjab Tells UP | India News


CHANDIGARH: The government of Punjab has asked the government of Uttar Pradesh to take custody of the politician-turned-gangster Mukhtar Ansari, currently housed in Ropar jail, by April 8. This was done in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Court.
In a letter addressed to UP Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Avnish Kumar Awasthi, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Home Affairs and Justice) Anurag Aggarwal has written that the handover will take place in the Ropar district jail to more take April 8 and the necessary arrangements for the transfer of the prisoner under trial can be made.
Meanwhile, a team led by a UP Barabanki DSP rank officer arrived at the Ropar jail on Sunday to retrieve the controversial ambulance that was used to transport Ansari from the Ropar jail to the Mohali court recently.
