Naxal Attack: HM Shah talks to Chhattisgarh CM; orders the Director General of the CRPF to visit the state | India News


NEW DELHI: Union Interior Minister Amit Shah spoke with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday, assessing the situation following the killing of five security personnel in an encounter with Naxals in the state, authorities said.
Shah also ordered the director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Kuldiep Singh, to visit Chhattisgarh to assess the situation.
The interior minister spoke with Chhattisgarh’s chief minister and assessed the situation that arose after the meeting, an Interior Ministry official said.
The prime minister is believed to have informed the interior minister about the measures taken by the state government after the incident, another official said.
At least five members of the security personnel were killed and 30 others injured in the encounter with Naxals in a forest along the border between Bijapur and Sukma districts in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
Earlier, Shah said in a tweet that the courage of the security personnel who gave their lives fighting the extremists will never be forgotten.
The interior minister also said that the government will continue its fight against such enemies of peace and progress.
“I bow to the sacrifices of our brave security personnel martyred while fighting the Maoists in Chhattisgarh. The nation will never forget their courage. My condolences go out to their families. We will continue our fight against these enemies of peace and progress. May them wounded recover soon, “he said.
