Undertrial Dies in Jammu Jail, Family Seeks Investigation | India News


JAMMU: A sub-trial died under mysterious circumstances at the high-security prison in the Kot Bhalwal area of ​​Jammu, police said Saturday. His family has reported a crime and requested an investigation into his death.
The defendant, Sunny Singh (30), a resident of Deoli village, faced charges in three cases, including a murder case, registered against him at the Bishnah police station between 2008 and 2010. “The defendant died in the central jail from Kot Bhalwal on Friday. night and later his body was transferred to a government medical school (GMC) for autopsy in the early hours of Saturday. They found him unconscious in his barracks and he was treated by the prison hospital staff, ”said a prison official.
According to hospital sources, a prison pharmacist brought the body of a prisoner from Kot Bhalwal to GMC, then transferred it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy and other legal formalities.
The father of the deceased, Prabu Singh, said the local police station informed him of his son’s death around 5 am. Seeking an investigation into her son’s death, she said: “I met him in prison a week ago and he was fine, but this morning we received a call from the police informing us of his death. It seems that he was attacked inside the prison because the body had bruises ”.
