At least five Jawans killed in encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh | India News

NEW DELHI: At least five security personnel were killed and 10 others injured on Saturday during a meeting with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur, PTI officials reported citing officials.
Police said some Maoists were also killed in the ongoing meeting.
The shooting broke out in the Tarrem area when a joint team of security forces was in an anti-Naxal operation, Chhattisgarh Police Director General DM Awasthi told PTI.
Personnel from the CRPF’s elite CoBRA (Resolute Action Command Battalion) unit, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF) were involved in the operation, he said.
The encounter comes just days after five CRPF jaws were killed and several were injured in an improvised explosive device blast set off by the Maoists in Narayanpur.
