BENGALURU: Defense power supply Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) announced on Thursday a turnover of approximately 13,500 crore rupees (interim and unaudited) during the 2020-21 fiscal year, up from the previous year’s turnover of 12,608 crore rupees.

MV Gowtama, CMD, BEL said that the firm will continue its efforts to become self-sufficient through a greater focus on indigenization, outsourcing to the domestic industry with more emphasis on the acquisition of MSMEs and gemstones, minimizing dependence on imports.
“The company is prepared to explore and take advantage of new growth areas and new commercial avenues through continuous diversification, improved capabilities and competitiveness, modernization, etc. BEL has entered potential new business segments such as healthcare solutions, cyber and network security, space electronics, energy storage systems, software, and is confident of making significant advancements in these segments in the coming years, ”said Gowtama.
