SC Appointed Committee Presents Report on Agricultural Laws | India News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court appointed a three-member committee on new farm laws that presented its report to the court on Wednesday.
The committee presented the report on a sealed cover in which it said that around 85 farmers’ organizations have been consulted in the case and possible solutions to solve the problem have been discussed.
The panel held several consultations with eminent academics and agricultural professionals on the laws against which farmers have been protesting on the borders of Delhi for more than three months.
The three-member committee held consultations with stakeholders both online and in person.
On January 12, the Supreme Court suspended the implementation of the three contentious agricultural laws for two months and asked the committee to present a report within two months of consulting with interested parties.
Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab, Haryana and parts of Uttar Pradesh, have been camping on the borders of Delhi for more than two months and are now seeking repeal of the new laws, introduced by the Center last year, saying they are pro -corporate and could weaken the mandi system.
