Hizbul militant between two killed in meeting with J&K | India News


SRINAGAR: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant, who had gone to Pakistan for weapons training and returned last week, was among the two ultras killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian on Saturday, police said on Saturday. Sunday.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar said the encounter in the Wangam area in the Shopian of southern Kashmir, which began on Saturday night, ended with the killing of two militants belonging to HM and Lashkar. -e-Toiba (LeT).
“Two deadly terrorists have been killed in the operation. One of them, Inatullah Sheikh, a resident of Shopian, had been active since 2018 and had gone to Pakistan that year for weapons training. He came back only last week. I was with HM, ”said the IGP here.
Kumar said the other militant Adil Malik, a resident of Anantnag, belonged to LeT.
“An AK-47 rifle, an M4 rifle and a pistol have been recovered from the meeting place,” he said, adding that so far this year, security forces have recovered two M4 rifles from the militants.
The IGP said that Sheikh was more likely to have brought the M4 rifle from Pakistan.
An army soldier identified as Havildar Pinku Kumar was also killed in the shooting, while another soldier was wounded.
The wounded soldier was transferred here to Army Base 92 Hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
