Court Inquiry Against Central Agencies ‘Unfortunate’, Says Rajnath Singh | India News

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that the Kerala government’s decision to recommend a judicial investigation against central investigative agencies, including the executive direction (ED) investigating gold smuggling cases and dollars, it was “unfortunate”. He said it amounts to challenging the federal structure of the Constitution.
Singh, who is in Kerala to campaign for the BJP-NDA candidates in the April 6 assembly elections, also said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented only after all communities trust in them.
The UCC is in the BJP manifesto.
“We will trust all the communities and move forward. We are firm in that decision,” Singh told reporters.
On rising fuel prices, he said the Center had asked all states to lower the state gasoline tax.
On the smuggling cases, he said: “I learned that the ED is investigating the case and then a judicial commission has been appointed against the central agency. It is very regrettable. This means that the state government is challenging the federal structure of the Constitution. This is 100% against the Constitution. ”
The CPM-led LDF government had recently decided to order a judicial investigation against central agencies, including the ED, for allegedly “derailing the investigation” into gold smuggling and dollar scams, days after Kerala’s criminal branch registered an FIR against some ED officials. .
While the gold scam relates to the seizure of approximately 30 kg of gold worth Rs 14.82 crore from diplomatic luggage at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in July 2020, the dollar smuggling case concerns the alleged smuggling. of $ 1.90,000 (equivalent to Rs 1.30 crore) by a former CFO from the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram to Muscat in Oman.
In addition to the ED, Customs and the National Investigative Agency (NIA) are also investigating the scams.
In attacking both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), Singh said that even with 100 percent literacy, Kerala lags behind other states in various sectors.
“The main reason is that even after seven decades of independence, the state cannot get out of the clutches of LDF and UDF. The state needs a new political alternative and only the BJP can provide it. UDF and LDF are playing friendly matches. LDF or UDF win the match but the people are being defeated. In Kerala the Congress and the communists are fighting but 2,000 kilometers away, they are fighting us together, “Singh said.
Both fronts were making false promises and did not understand the aspirations of the people of Kerala.
The LDF should present a report on action taken on its promises rather than giving people false hope, he said, adding that appeasement policies on the two fronts had driven Kerala away from the path of development.
The minister also attacked the leader of Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and said that he always claims to form a separate ministry for fishermen in Delhi.
“You may not know that Modi ji already formed a ministry in 2019,” Singh said.
The Union Minister, who held a road show in Varkala this morning, will campaign in the Kottayam, Thrissur and Ernakulam districts.
