Prez Kovind switched to AIIMS for planned referral procedure: Rashtrapati Bhavan | India News


NEW DELHI: On Saturday, President Ram Nath Kovind was transferred to the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here for a planned referral procedure that is expected to take place on Tuesday, according to a statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The president’s health status is stable and he is under the care of experts, he said.
Kovind, 75, had undergone a medical check-up at the Army Hospital (R&R) here after chest discomfort on Friday morning.
“The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, has been transferred to AIIMS, Delhi, this afternoon (March 27, 2021). After investigations, doctors have advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure that is expected to take place on the morning of Tuesday, March 30.
“The president’s health is stable and he is under the care of AIIMS experts,” the statement said.
Earlier on Saturday, the Army hospital said in a medical bulletin that the president is being referred to AIIMS, Delhi for further investigation.
The hospital had said on Friday: “The President of India visited the Army Hospital (R&R) after chest discomfort this morning. He is undergoing a routine check-up and is under observation.”
