Kerala Polls: RJD to Go Only in Kerala, Presents its Candidates in 2 Assembly Constituencies | India News

PATNA: After putting your candidate in Assam in the northeast, Bihar’s main opposition party, RJD, has decided to expand its presence in Kerala, located in the extreme southwest of the country.
Lalu Prasad’s party has put forward its candidates for two assembly seats, Kundara in Kollam district and Ranni in Pathanamthitta district.
The party’s two candidates, Vinod Bahuleyan and Joemon Joseph, have already submitted their nomination papers from the Kundara and Ranni constituencies, respectively.
“It is the first time that the RJD has participated in the elections with its own symbol in Kerala. Previously, RJD used to extend its support to independent candidates in this state, ”RJD Kerala State President Anu Chacko told TOI by phone from Kochi on Saturday.
The party led by Lalu Prasad also decided to go solo in Kerala’s assembly elections after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) refused to accommodate it in the eight-party opposition front in the southwestern state.
“Our Tejashwi leader Prasad Yadav spoke with the general secretary of Congress, KC Venugopal, and urged him to leave some seats in the assembly for the RJD and also to make our party an ally of the Congress-led UDF in Kerala. But things could not go in our favor and the RJD decided to go only in the coastal state, ”said Chacko, who has been in charge of the RJD in Kerala for many years.
Chacko is also the national secretary of the RJD.
To a question, Chacko said that Tejashwi Yadav could visit Kerala in the first week of April to campaign for the RJD candidates.
“I will make a request to Tejashwi Ji to come to Kerala on April 2-3 to address the election rallies at the Kundara and Ranni assembly seats,” Chacko said, adding that the election campaign in Kerala would end in the night of April 4.
Kerala will go to the polls in a single phase on April 6.
