NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru and said his sacrifice will continue to be an inspiration to all generations in the country.
It was on this day that the British government executed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.
March 23 is seen as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ to pay tribute to the trio who were hanged for killing British police officer JP Saunders. The trio wanted to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
“Greetings to the independence revolutionaries, ‘Amar Shaheed Veer’ Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on the Day of Martyrdom,” Modi said in a tweet in Hindi.
