Tirath Singh Rawat of BJP to be the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand | India News

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat will be the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
She replaces Travendra Singh Rawat, who resigned from CM on Tuesday after completing almost 4 years in office.
The BJP asked Travendra Singh to resign after a section of the party’s MLAs opposed his style of operation.
Tirath Singh Rawat’s name was announced after a meeting of the BJP legislative body held in the morning.
Tirath Rawat, who was the head of Uttarakhand’s BJP from 2013 to 2015, will be sworn in as chief minister at 4pm today.
He was also the state’s prime minister of education, after he was carved out of Uttar Pradesh.
Tirath has also served as a BJP MLA in the state.
