PATNA: At least six workers were killed when part of a wall at a government secondary school collapsed during construction of a drain in Bihar’s Khagaria district on Monday. Ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh was given to the next of kin of each deceased, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. when workers were removing dirt from the drain and the wall of the school, built about eight months ago, collapsed. Official sources said the drain was being built under the Bihar government’s Nal-Jal scheme. Khagaria SP Amitesh Kumar said that no one was injured and that the school was closed when the wall collapsed. The bodies were sent for autopsy and an FIR registered at the Maheshkunt Police Station.
