NEW DELHI: An intranasal vaccine candidate (BBV154), which is being developed by Bharat Biotech, is in an early clinical stage of development in India, Health Minister Ashwini Choubey al Rajya Sabha said on Tuesday.
Choubey was responding to a question about the status of the launch of a nasal vaccine for Covid-19.
Most vaccines are given by injection intramuscularly or subcutaneously. But intranasal vaccines are administered in the form of a nasal spray and offer a needle-free approach to administering the vaccine, Choubey said in a written response.
“The interval period between the two doses is currently 21 days. The program will be finalized after the data from the phase I clinical trial. Currently, in the phase I clinical trial, single-dose and two-dose programs are being tested. dose, “said the minister.
