Didi called me to ask for help and told the head of JMM: Hemant Soren | India News

NEW DELHI: As the West Bengal polls draw closer, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and Mamata Banerjee appear to have buried the ax over their party’s election campaign in January, when it was thought that he could run candidates while participating alone or with the Congress in the neighboring state.
“Didi called me on the day of my arrival in Delhi,” Soren told some journalists over tea in Delhi on Sunday.
“She requested that JMM come in support of the TMC in the upcoming elections in West Bengal. I have relayed it to the chairman of my party. Upon arriving in Jharkhand, we will now decide our future. But our goal is to push back the BJP and any movement that appropriate will be taken accordingly, “said the JMM leader.
His comments are important as Soren’s JMM leads a coalition government with Congress and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD). While Congress and left-wing parties have come together in West Bengal, RJD offered its support to TMC a week ago when Tejashwi Yadav visited Mamata.
Soren’s comments are also seen as an ongoing attempt to build a regional party bloc at a time when infighting in Congress has damaged their prospects in some states in the past. There is a significant tribal population, the main vote bank of JMM, in West Midnapore, Bankhra, Purulia and Jhargram of West Bengal.
Mamata had attacked Soren on January 28, saying it “hurt to see him campaigning in Jhargram, West Midnapore.” I had gone to take his oath, “he had said then. He had also said that he never went to Jharkhand. To campaign or contest even though many Bengalis live there.
On Sunday, Soren said his state and West Bengal administrations were frequently in contact to coordinate various issues.
“Whenever elections come, there is always an eye on alliances. If you look back, we (our party) had a demand that certain regions of West Bengal be part of Jharkhand. Even Bihar and Odisha. But, afterwards from the 2000 carvation exercise, various parts were left elsewhere … “said a high-ranking leader of his party.
However, Soren left it up to his party whether he will launch to West Bengal soon for any campaign.
