Rahul Accuses Modi’s Government Of Carrying Out Raids Against Pro-Farmers | India News

NEW DELHI: Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi used three popular Hindi idioms on Thursday to attack the government and accuse it of carrying out raids on pro-farmers.
A day after the income tax raids on the homes and offices of Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and others, Gandhi used the hashtag ‘ModiRaidsProFarmers’ with his Hindi tweet to investigate the government.
By posting three popular Hindi idioms ˜Ungliyon pe nachana ‘,’ Bheegi billi banna ‘and’ Khisiyani billi khamba neeche ‘, Gandhi stated what he thinks they mean in today’s context.
In his three-pronged attack, he alleged that the central government makes the income tax department dance, the friendly media cower before the center and central government assault the farmers they support.
The searches against Pannu and Kashyap, as well as their partners who launched the now-closed production house Phantom Films, were carried out at 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune. They were part of a tax evasion investigation against Phantom Films, authorities said.
Pannu and Kashyap, both known for being frank in their views on a variety of issues, were shooting in Pune and are believed to have been questioned by tax detectives as part of the preliminary questioning that takes place during the raids.
The raids also covered Reliance Entertainment group CEO Shibhasish Sarkar and some executives from celebrity and talent management companies KWAN and Exceed.
