NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday.
“I received my first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine this morning,” Sitharaman tweeted.
He also thanked Sister Ramya PC for her “care and professionalism.”
“It is fortunate to be in India, where development and dissemination have been fast and affordable,” he added.
the government on Wednesday it had announced that all those over 60 and those over 45 with comorbidities will be able to receive the Covid-19 vaccine from March 1, free of charge in government facilities and for a fee in many private hospitals.
Citizens can register and book an appointment for vaccination through the Co-WIN 2.0 portal or through the Aarogya Setu app.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interior Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad have also been vaccinated against Covid so far.
