Convoy of the head of the new Assam party ‘attacked’ by ‘BJP workers’ | India News

GUWAHATI: The newly floated Assam Jatiya Parishad alleged that its president Lurinjyoti Gogoi’s convoy was attacked by BJP workers in the Nalbari district on Sunday.
However, a Nalbari police officer told TOI that Lurinjyoti’s vehicle was not stopped or blocked and that it was the second vehicle to be detained for some time by BJP workers who shouted “Come back AJP.”
“Gogoi was going to attend a meeting in Bahjani of Ghograpar. Along the way, the physical disruption occurred in Kalag where some BJP workers were campaigning house to house. But no physical attack occurred. We are registering a case based on the FIR by AJP, ”he said.
Police said an investigation into the matter has started and that no one was injured in the incident. However, AJP spokesman Ziaur Rahman claimed that a car in the convoy was damaged.
