29,000 street vendors received loans in one day under the government scheme | India News

NEW DELHI: At least 38,000 loan applications were received from street vendors nationwide on Saturday and highly subsidized loans of Rs 10,000 each were disbursed to nearly 29,000 beneficiaries, which is the highest in a single day since the launch of the scheme.
The government has launched a special campaign to hold special weekly camps in municipal districts and areas to provide these loans to 30 lakh beneficiaries under the PM AtmaNirbhar (PM SVAnidhi) scheme by the end of March. “We had the first camps of this type on Saturday and two more will be held in March to sanction and disburse all pending applications. We are confident of achieving the goal, ”said an official.
As of Sunday, 38.18 lakh street vendors had applied for the PM SVAnidhi scheme and loans were sanctioned for 21.77 lakh applicants. So far 16.16 lakh recipients have obtained the loan amount.
The union’s housing and urban affairs secretary, DS Mishra, had written last week to banks and all state governments to mobilize eligible street vendors and complete all formalities.
