Poonawalla, Executive Director of the Serum Institute, informs the Interior Minister about the launch of the Covid-19 vaccine | India News

NEW DELHI: Serum Institute of India (SII) Executive Director Adar Poonawalla said on Friday that he met with Union Interior Minister Amit Shah and briefed him on the ongoing Covid-19 vaccine launch in the country.
“It was an honor for me to inform you today, Shri Hon’ble @AmitShah Ji about our country’s vaccination capabilities and the ongoing launch of vaccines in India,” Poonawalla said in a tweet.

In January, the country’s drug regulator approved Oxford’s Covid-19 Covishield vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute, and indigenously developed Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for restricted emergency use in the country, paving the way for a campaign of massive inoculation.
In addition to making efforts to meet the requirements of India, SII, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, is also doing its best to balance the needs of the rest of the world.
