SRINAGAR: Two unidentified terrorists were killed in a counterterrorism operation in the Shalgul forest area in Srigufwara, Anantnag district, on Wednesday. The shooting, which started in the morning, continued until press time, J&K police confirmed on Twitter.
Two or three terrorists were suspected of still hiding in the area, the sources said, adding that the killed terrorists were allegedly from Jaish-e-Mohammad.
Based on intelligence input on the presence of terrorists in Shalgul, a joint team of the Army 3RR, CRPF and J&K Police launched a cordon and search operation in the forest area. Seeing the security forces approach, the hidden ultras opened fire on the search party, triggering a shootout in which the terrorist duo was killed.
