SC: There are no additional opportunities for applicants to civil service | India News

NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, the SC dismissed the request of a group of applicants for public service, who have exhausted the allowed number of attempts and are also hit by the age bar, to have one more chance to take the test saying that They were not prepared for the 2020 exam due to the Covid pandemic.
A court of judges AM Khanwilkar, Indu Malhotra, and Ajay Rastogi said that many exams were carried out successfully during the pandemic and that it would have a cascading effect on other exams if the SC allowed students to request one more attempt.
“There are a large number of candidates who appeared in the various examinations in 2020 during the pandemic and this court may take a judicial notice that … what is claimed and prayed under the guise of Covid is nothing more than an excuse unconvincing to take further attempt to participate in the 2021 Civil Service Exam, ”the bank said.
However, the court clarified that its decision would not limit the Center from exercising its discretion in the future to deal with difficulties. The court approved the order in a series of petitions submitted by candidates seeking one more opportunity to appear for the exam on the grounds that they were “forced” to appear when the government rejected their request to postpone the exam.
