Large Averted Attack at J&K on Pulwama Anniversary, 6.5kg IED Recovered | India News

NEW DELHI: Security forces said on Sunday they had foiled a terrorist plot to carry out a major attack in Jammu and Kashmir on the second anniversary of the Pulwama attack.
“We were on high alert because we had input that terrorist groups were planning an attack on the anniversary of the Pulwama attack. The attack would take place in Jammu,” Jammu Police Inspector General (IG) Mukesh Singh told reporters. .
He said security forces arrested a person named Sohail on Saturday night and recovered between 6 and 6.5 kg of improvised explosive devices from his possession, which would be used to launch a large strike on Union territory. .
“During interrogation, Sohail revealed that he studies in Chandigarh and received a message from Al Badr Tanzeem of Pakistan to place an IED in Jammu,” Singh said.
He said Sohail was given three to four destination locations to place the IED, after which it was supposed to take a flight to Srinagar where he was received by an Al Badr Tanzeem worker named Athar Shakeel Khan.
The recovery of the improvised explosive device comes shortly after the arrest of two of Kunjwani’s top terrorists in the Jammu and Bari Brahmana area of ​​the Samba district.
