Engineer chose the call of duty over cricket, paid with his life | India News

TAPOVAN: Abhishek Pant, a young local from Tapovan who had been working as an engineer on the National Thermal Power Corporation’s hydroelectric project for the past two years, disappeared in the deluge due to an unfortunate twist of fate, Abhijeet Singh reports.
Being a cricket enthusiast, he was going to play a match in the town of Dhaak on the fateful Sunday morning. However, he received a call from the project site regarding a power line failure minutes before he was about to leave for the game. While his friends were going to the game, Abhishek went to the project site and got caught in the flash floods. He has been missing ever since. His younger brother Sanjay told TOI: “The family is in a state of shock. I have not moved from the rescue site since we received the news. The agencies involved in rescue operations must accelerate the entire process.
Abhishek was getting engaged in April. We were busy making the necessary arrangements. The flood has destroyed everything. We fear for him and we only wait for his return ”, added Sanjay.
