RS records 99% productivity during the first part of the budget session: Naidu | India News

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha recorded 99% productivity during the two weeks of the first part of Parliament’s budget session.
President M Venkaiah Naidu said Friday that the House’s productivity this week has been 113% compared to productivity of 82% during the first week. He added that compared to the total scheduled time of 45 hours 23 minutes, net of only 11 minutes have been lost due to interruptions.
The House broke Friday for a three-week recess after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s response to a discussion on the budget for fiscal year 2021-22 that begins April 1. During the recess, the parliamentary committees will examine the budget allocation for various ministries. Parliament will meet on March 8 for the second part of the budget session.
In addition to the discussion on the Budget, the House also debated for 15 hours a motion in which it thanked the President for his speech in the joint session of Parliament at the beginning of the budget session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to that debate earlier this week. About 100 members spoke on these two topics. “Compared to the total loss of 4 hours and 24 minutes during the first week, the members sat for an additional 3 hours and 54 minutes during the second week,” Naidu said.
