Trinamool Congress Deputy Dinesh Trivedi resigns from Rajya Sabha | India News

NEW DELHI: In another shake-up to the Trinamool Congress ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, the party’s deputy, Dinesh Trivedi, resigned his seat in Rajya Sabha on Friday.
“Today I am resigning from Rajya Sabha. There is violence in my state. We cannot speak here.” said the TMC leader as he announced his resignation on the floor of the Upper House.
“Thankful to my party that they have sent me here. I feel suffocated because we cannot do anything because of the violence in the state. My soul tells me that if you cannot do anything sitting here, then you must resign. I will continue to work for the people of West Bengal, “Trivedi said.
Reacting to Trivedi’s resignation, TMC MP Sukhendu S Roy said his party will send “grassroots workers to Rajya Sabha soon.”
“Trinamool means grassroots. This will give us the opportunity to send one of our grassroots workers to Rajya Sabha soon,” Sukhendu told ANI.
Before Trivedi, several leaders resigned from the party, including Rajib Banerjee, Sovan Chaterjee, Suvendu Adhikari, and Laxmi Ratan Shukla.

While Banerjee, Chaterjee and Adhikari joined the Bhartiya Janata Party, Shukla has decided to take a break from politics and will complete his term as an MLA.
