5 ministers will launch CNG tractor today | India News

NEW DELHI: India’s first converted compressed natural gas (CNG) tractor will be launched on Friday. The Ministry of Road Transport said that this will help farmers save more than Rs 1 lakh a year in fuel costs.
The tractor converted to run on diesel CNG, which has been approved by a government-run vehicle testing facility, will be launched by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and four other Union Ministers, including Narendra. Singh Tomar and Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Transport Ministry said test reports indicate that the modernized tractor produces more or equal power compared to diesel engines. Additionally, total emissions are reduced by 70% on these tractors compared to diesel-powered ones. It will also help farmers save 40-50% on the cost of fuel, the ministry said.
