PM Modi: Vivekananda’s approach guided India’s Covid battle | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India’s proactive stance during the Covid-19 pandemic was an example of Swami Vivekananda’s approach to not feeling helpless in a crisis.
“Similarly, instead of complaining about the problem of climate change, India sought a solution in the form of the International Solar Alliance,” said the prime minister while speaking about the 125th anniversary celebrations of ‘Prabuddha Bharata’, a monthly magazine. of the Ramakrishna. order started by Swami Vivekananda.
The prime minister said that Swami Vivekananda appointed the magazine ‘Prabuddha Bharata’ to manifest the spirit of the nation. “Swami ji wanted to create an ‘awakened India’, beyond a political or territorial entity. Swami Vivekananda saw India as a cultural consciousness that has been living and breathing for centuries, ”he added. Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s letter to the Maharaja of Mysore and Swami Ramakrishnananda, the Prime Minister outlined two clear thoughts on Vivekananda’s approach to empowering the poor.
“First, I wanted empowerment to take away the poor, if the poor themselves cannot easily go to empowerment. Second, he said about the poor of India that they should be given ideas, that their eyes should be opened to what is happening in the world around them, and then they will work out their own salvation, ”Modi said. The Prime Minister said that this was the approach the country was moving with, citing schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat.
He expressed his happiness that Swami Vivekananda’s great dreams for India and his immense faith in the youth of India were reflected in India’s business leaders, athletes, technocrats, professionals, scientists, innovators and so many others.
The prime minister asked the young man to go ahead following Swamiji’s advice in his lectures on practices Vedanta where he talks about overcoming setbacks and seeing them as part of the learning curve.
