DELHI: More than 100 people have been reported missing since the tractor rally that took place in Delhi on Republic Day, Samyukt Kisan Morcha said on Sunday while expressing deep concern about the issue.
“We are now trying to collect information on these missing persons, after which the matter will be brought to the authorities. A committee has been formed that includes Prem Singh Bhangu, Rajinder Singh, Deep Singh Wala, Avtar Singh, Kiranjit Singh Sekhon and Baljit Singh, “the leaders of the conglomerate of more than 40 farmers’ unions said at a press conference in Singhu, on the Delhi-Haryana border.
La Morcha also issued a number to collect information on missing persons, in which the caller can record the full name, address, phone number and any other contact number and since when the person is missing.
El Morcha also condemned the arrest of the independent journalist Mandeep Punia and the arrest and subsequent release of another notary public, as well as the “government attack on the agitation of farmers by suspending Internet services at various protest sites.”
“Modi’s government does not want the real facts to reach farmers and the general public, nor does it want its peaceful conduct to reach the world. The government wants to spread its lies about farmers.”
Front leaders also questioned the siege of the protest sites to prevent or dissuade ordinary people and the media from reaching the Singhu border and other sites in Dharna.
“Despite various attempts to foment violence by the police and the government, farmers are still debating three agricultural laws and MSP. We want to make it clear to all conscious citizens that our front of Delhi is safe and peaceful.”
