One lakh of NCC trained cadets will serve in coastal, border areas: PM Modi | India News


NEW DELHI: One lakh of cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), who are being trained by the Army, Navy and Air Force, will serve in coastal and border areas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing the NCC Rally at Cariappa Ground in Delhi on Thursday.
“On August 15 of last year, it was announced that the NCC will have new responsibilities in around 175 districts in the coastal and border areas. To do this, the Army, Navy and Air Force are training around 1 lakh of cadets from the NCC. These, a third are cadet girls, “said Prime Minister Modi.
Praising the NCC cadets for helping the government in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said: “Whether it’s the floods or any other calamity, the NCC cadets helped the people of this country last year. During In the Corona pandemic, thousands of cadets worked with the administration and society throughout the country. Their work is commendable. ”
The Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and the three heads of the armed forces were also present on the occasion.
