3 lakh are vaccinated on the 12th, five states account for 79% | India News

NEW DELHI: Even as India vaccinated more than 23 lakhs of healthcare workers, with nearly three lakhs of recipients vaccinated on the twelfth day since the launch of the campaign, 79% of recipients on Wednesday were from five states, they showed official data. The data underscore the need for other states to pick up the pace.
The five states that represent the most recipients of the vaccine on Wednesday include Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka. While Rajasthan topped the list for the day with 71,632 recipients receiving the vaccines, Madhya Pradesh vaccinated 60,194 people. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh together accounted for 44% of the total of 2,99,299 recipients immunized against Covid-19 across the country on Wednesday. Karnataka, which has vaccinated the largest number of healthcare workers so far, vaccinated 33,124 recipients, representing around 11% of the total count for the day.
About 123 post-vaccination adverse events (AEFI) were reported.
So far, nine deaths have been reported in total. However, none of the deaths have been causally linked to Covid-19 vaccination, the health ministry said. “In the last 24 hours, a 23-year-old resident of Odisha has died. The post mortem report is expected ”, he said.
