Flight Lieutenant Swati Rathore: First female pilot to lead flypast on Republic Day | India News
Rathore dreamed of becoming a pilot from a young age. Rathore’s father, Bhawani Singh, told TOI: “Swati had always wanted to join the IAF. When she was a child, whenever she drew pictures, it was that of an airplane. This was why she also signed up for the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
While at NCC, she won a gold medal in shooting and appeared for the Air Force Common Admission Test in 2013. She was selected to the IAF on her first attempt.
The 28-year-old officer was also part of the rescue operation carried out by the IAF during the Kerala floods of 2018.
