AHMEDABAD: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat extended his greetings on Tuesday on the occasion of Republic Day and said compatriots should read the Preamble to the Constitution on this day, as it says “where we should take our country as citizens “.
Bhagwat, who is on a three-day visit to Ahmedabad, unfurled the national flag at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) state headquarters in the Maninagar area here.
“All compatriots should read the Preamble to the Constitution on this day, as it tells us where we must take citizens to our country,” he said on the occasion.
Bhagwat said the national anthem “draws a picture of our country in front of our eyes when we salute our flag on Republic Day.”
“When we sing ‘Jana Gana Mana, it makes us visualize different regions like Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha and paints its (the nation’s) boundary in front of our eyes,” he said.
He said the national anthem refers to different rivers and mountains, inhabitants and languages ​​and “continues to awaken us in the name of God who is unique in this country.”
Explaining the importance of the tricolor, Bhagwat said that “we can move our country forward by keeping the three colors in front of us.”
“The saffron color is inspired by fire and is the color of inclusivity, since fire can take everything. It is the color of resignation and work, ”he said.
He said the white color of the flag means “we have to have impeccable character to serve our country.”
“Green is the color of Lakshmi (goddess of wealth), who says that the country should be prosperous and that no one should be deprived of basic things like food,” he said.
During his visit here, Bhagwat will hold meetings and discuss various RSS jobs in the city.
