NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that Indian scientists have fulfilled their duty by developing the Covid-19 vaccine and “now we have to fulfill ours” by defeating through correct information all the networks that spread lies and rumors.
Addressing the NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and artists who will be participating in the Republic Day parade, Modi said such organizations have always played their part in dealing with challenging times.
“In times of Covid too, the work done by you is commendable. When the government and the administration needed it, you volunteered and provided help,” he said.
“Whether it is to spread awareness about the Aarogya Setu app or the spread of the coronavirus infection, the work done by you was commendable,” Modi said.
The prime minister said that young people should now step forward to help the Covid-19 vaccination program by providing the correct information to the people.
“You need to take it to the next level now. Your reach is in all parts of society. I ask you to reach out to help the country with the Covid-19 vaccination program. You have to provide the correct information about vaccines to the poor public and in general, “Modi said.
“Indian scientists have fulfilled their duty by developing the coronavirus vaccine and now we have to fulfill ours. We have to defeat through correct information all the networks that spread lies and rumors,” Modi said.
He also said that India will not become self-sufficient just because of someone who says so, but this will be achieved through the actions of young people for whom they must be armed with the necessary skills.
“India will not become ‘aatmanirbhar’ (self-sufficient) just because of someone who says so, it will be thanks to the actions of young people like you. You will be able to do this better when you have the necessary skills,” Modi said. .
Realizing the importance of this, the skills development ministry was formed when his government arrived in 2014 and more than 5.5 million young people have received training in different skills so far, Modi said.
Under this skills-building program, not only training is provided, it provides help with finding employment, the prime minister said.
The goal is for young people in India to get new job opportunities based on their skills, Modi said.
He again emphasized ‘Vocal for Local’, saying that the feeling of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ will gain more strength.
