SHIVSAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Assam on Saturday and distributed pattas of land / award certificates to indigenous peoples in Sivasagar, under the state government one lakh beneficiary program.

According to the PMO statement, taking into account the urgent need to protect the territorial rights of the indigenous peoples of the state, the Assam government presented a new Comprehensive Agrarian Policy with a renewed emphasis on the protection of the territorial rights of indigenous peoples. .
“Top priority has been given to the issuance of patta / award certificates for the indigenous peoples of Assam in order to instill in them a sense of security. Assam had 5.75 lakhs of landless families in 2016. The current government has distributed 2.28 billion award certificates / land pattas since May 2016. The January 23 ceremony marks the next step in this process, “the statement said.
Prime Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, speaking on the occasion, said Prime Minister Modi is the biggest supporter of Assam and its people. The development of Assam and the northeast region is due to their support, he added.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Assam and the northeast received due attention from the central government and made unprecedented progress over the past six years.
