Three mantri resigns from Didi’s government in run-up to Bengal elections | India News

Kolkata / Howrah: Bengal Minister Rajib Banerjee on Friday became the third member of Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, after Suvendu Adhikari and Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, to resign from the Trinamool government in the run-up to the elections to the Assembly. A watery-eyed Banerjee, whose complaint about “not being able to work” was initially drowned out in the din of Adhikari’s departure, came out of Raj Bhavan to allege “unfair treatment” by TMC.
It remains to be seen whether Banerjee follows Adhikari to the BJP or bids for his moment as Shukla, who has said he wants to spend time on cricket. Like Adhikari, and unlike Shukla, he dialed a copy of his resignation to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar before making a “courtesy call” that lasted more than an hour.
Pouring his heart out standing on Raj Bhavan’s lawn, Banerjee said, “My wallet was changed without even intimidating me. But I don’t want to hurt anyone or make personal attacks. Others are doing that and it depends on their conscience. ”
Banerjee last held the forestry portfolio and, before that, was the state’s minister of irrigation. He posted his resignation letter to CM Mamata on his Facebook page, as well as on Twitter.
